Bali Dog Hell…When you think of Bali you think of tropical breezes, cocktails and fun in the sun. However life isn’t quite so idyllic for thousands of dogs in Bali.Dogs are abused, neglected, starving, living on the streets and even eaten as food. BARC is constantly having cases of extreme cruelty brought to our attention. Some cases include:A defenseless Dog was tied to a pole & beaten to death with sticks by laughing teenagers who filmed the entire ordeal.A man from Denpasar skinned his own dog alive and posted it on Facebook. Not to mention dogs being kept in cages & used for breeding over and over and over until they can no longer have babies. This horrific cruelty is becoming more and more prevalent here in Bali – people think its okay to perpetuate these crimes against dogs.We say ITS NOT OKAY!There are very limited Animal abuse laws in Indonesia, but there are laws, they are just not usually investigated or enforced.BARC would love to employ a “Dog Squad” worker, who’s sole job is to file police reports on cases like this, push for the maximum punishment to be handed out and to lobby the government to write tougher animal protection laws.To employ a competent worker who knows the laws, has contacts in the police and government would cost us around $700AUD a month.
