Story
Freedom for Timo
Senior Bali Dog Timo was forced to live his entire life in a small, filthy cage covered in his own faeces. No water, no bedding, no human interaction and only one daily meal of rice. His owners didn’t want him any longer and gave him up to whoever would take him.
After some failed education attempts, thankfully we were alerted a few days ago and with the support of two kind Indonesians who reported him to us, Timo was freed from his prison yesterday. We needed to break open the rusty lock and remove the concrete around the cage in order to open the door. Timo is very fearful, he is scared of every single noise and doesn’t trust humans, but who can blame him for that. Freed from the cage he struggled to walk, his back legs are weak and deformed.
Timo is more than 10 years old and only experienced suffer and pain. He has been medically checked and he is now safe in our sanctuary. Physically he will recover quick, mentally it will take much more time.
A life in a cage is not a life dogs deserve. They will develop physical and mental issues. Dogs are highly social pack animals, they need stimulation, exercise and affection. Long term caging not only results in aggression, anxiety and depression but it’s also the cause for eating disorders, infections inside and out from their own faeces and limp deformities. Sadly there are many more cases of caged and chained dogs. All over Bali charities and rescuers are working hard to enforce animal welfare laws to put an end to the suffering.
We are wishing to find a monthly sponsor for Timo to live out the rest of his life in peace and freedom in our dog sanctuary. Please donate for Timo and support us to continue our good cause for the dogs of Bali. We rely solely on donations and only with your help we can rescue more, medicate more, educate more, sterilize more and feed more dogs who urgently need our assistance.
