Every day across Bali, countless puppies are born into a world where there are simply not enough homes, food, medical care, or resources to support them. Many are abandoned, left to fend for themselves on the streets, vulnerable to disease, injury, starvation, and neglect.

Sterilisation is the single most effective and humane solution to reducing animal suffering in the long term.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our mobile street sterilisation team recently travelled to the rural community of Mengwi, where we provided vital veterinary care to dogs that would otherwise have had no access to treatment.

Among them was Rudi, a street dog we had previously treated for severe mange and continue to monitor and care for. Alongside Rudi, we sterilised four female dogs belonging to families with very limited financial means, as well as rescued stray dogs that had found refuge with compassionate local residents.

One of these dogs was Pony, who not only underwent sterilisation but also received her first chemotherapy treatment for Transmissible Venereal Tumour (TVT), a painful and contagious cancer affecting many street dogs throughout Bali.

Every sterilisation prevents future generations of unwanted puppies from being born into hardship. It reduces the number of dogs abandoned on the streets, lowers the spread of disease, decreases pressure on overcrowded rescue organisations, and improves the overall health and welfare of both owned and stray dogs.
